When it comes to freelancing, beginners have numerous options to choose different platforms like Upwork, Freelancer, Guru, Truelancer, Fiverr and many more.

But most prefer to start with Fiverr. Why most beginners prefer to start with Fiverr is because of its beginner-friendly nature. If you look at Upwork, then they are very strict upon the sellers for verification of their skills and profile.

The same is not the case with Fiverr, where a user/seller can put his profile picture as per the choice or may not. You can add skills without verification but if you want to get a verified page for your skills then you have to pass the test.

Beginners on Fiverr can add up to 7 gigs(services you offer). And as you level up you will have more places to add gigs.

Here, in this article, I’m gonna share with you some techniques that you can apply to get your first order on Fiverr.

Mind map on How to get your first gig order on Fiverr

If you are really serious to start your freelancing career then you must be serious about making a perfect gig and then promoting your gig.

How to make a perfect gig on Fiverr

Here are 4 methods that you can apply to have a perfect gig on Fiverr that could generate impressions and clicks.

Proper Title

Fiverr is also a search engine. Whenever the user searches anything using the search bar, the very first thing the crawler looks for is the title.

Crawler matches the search query with the titles available on gigs and then fetches the data to show the relevant gigs that the user is looking for.

You must put the appropriate keywords in the gig title. How to get the keywords that would help in the ranking? Just go to the search bar and type in the first word of your gig title and then the search bar will suggest some other words related to your given word(s). For example, type in ‘WordPress’ and then the search bar will show you some suggestions to fill after ‘WordPress’ and from those suggestions you can choose your keywords that are appropriate for your gig title.

Gig Description

In the gig description, you can add relevant information about your gig or service you are offering. Here is my gig on WordPress you can check how to write a proper gig description.

Your gig description must contain keywords you have put in your titles. Also, I would recommend you to add some variations of your keywords. Suppose, your primary keyword is ‘create WordPress website’ you can also write it as ‘build WordPress website’, ‘design WordPress website’, ‘design WordPress blog’.

And, in your description, you must tell what are the services you will offer through that gig.

Some additional information you must include are- Money Back assurance, After-sale service, and why you should be chosen for the work.

Use of Tags

You must use your keywords in tags. Tags are also the major element crawler looks for.

Tags should be properly written to help crawlers find your gig. You can add up to 5 tags.

Gig Image

Images on the Gigs create first impressions. And most of the time people will click on it if it is eye-catching and looks beautiful.

So you must take the time to make an attractive image. You can add information about your gig on the image itself. But, don’t make it look like a screenshot of any blog.

Just check this gig on Social Media Marketing to understand how you can craft a perfect gig image.

You can use tools like Canva or Crello to make stunning images with some pre-designed templates.

Now you have understood how to make a perfect gig to get your first order on Fiverr. But the game doesn't end here. After you are ready with your gig, it’s time to promote your gig. Because Fiverr isn’t going to do anything to promote your gig.

Let’s know how we can promote our gigs.

How to promote your gigs to get your first order on Fiverr

Some of the methods that you can use to promote your gigs to get your first order on Fiverr are mentioned here.

Communities/Groups

You can find Groups on Facebook which are made for a specific purpose like for sharing information like creating videos, photography, illustrations, digital marketing, etc.

Participate in those groups and be an active member and don’t overpromote your gigs. They may don’t like it. Even in most Facebook groups, it used to be clearly mentioned not to promote anything.

So, don’t promote it like you are promoting, instead, promote it as like you want to help them or put some value to them.

Make videos on YouTube

By making videos based on ‘How to’ topics based on your gigs you can get more customers. If someone has to make a WordPress website and he/she watched your video to learn WordPress but for any reason, he couldn’t make it then he/she may contact you to get the work done. And, in that way you can promote your gigs.

Blog on your gig(service)

You can blog around your gig offering on some blogging platforms like Medium to get some visitors to your gig.

You can explain how things to be done. And on those blog posts, you can add links to your gigs.

Promote in Forums like Quora

Forums are the places where people go to get the answers to their question. You can add questions yourself and answer them or you can answer other persons’ question and you can put your gig’s link in the answer.

So these are some of the methods that can be used in order to get your first order on Fiverr.
